I noticed that a lot of you on Facebook really digged the review of Interstate ‘76 (somebody even asked us on Twitter for a poem from Stampede) :P Brilliant! Well I’m glad I’ve made an impact somehow and even got folk to go to the site where I got the game from and buy it for themselves.
Okay, so for today.. lets see OOH Okay let me start with this awesome artwork of Space Invaders aliens in the shape of a skull, from Deviant Art user Jaxnel

Very cool. Kind of like what the weather is slowly getting to, I’m glad winter is around the corner very soon. The many nights of snuggling up and playing those long RPG’s till late. But should you decide to go out into the cold, perhaps this scarf would be in order?

Otherwise if you’re out and about and you’re lucky enough to have an iPhone (even more so if it’s jailbroken?) Then you might be interested in this peripheral for it:

Now I notice a lot of people I know, don’t wear watches anymore, including myself, which is a shame, because I’d probably maybe consider thinking about wearing this one:

Last but not least, we take a moment to remember one of the most iconic individuals to embrace the world and history of video games. I speak of none other than Gunpei Yokoi.
This legend brought the Game & Watch games to this world, as well as the Game Boy. A highly influencing individual no doubt.
Thanks for all the support folks, it’s what keeps us going still :) Have a great evening and we’ll see you all tomorrow!

Hopefully there’s not too much blood spilt after our writer Paul has decided to have his say about the modernised remakes of the Mega Man series? I’m having a good giggle at the article! Hope you folks enjoy it too!
Okay, so many of you have heard about Stadium Events going for ridiculous amounts of money on eBay right? Well how about loads of money for a friggin ruler?
THAT thing went for US$800. So there you have it, tis the season to auction off priceless retrogaming collectibles (Although if anyone has a PAL copy of Secret of Mana to donate to the website, that would be great, thank you) ;)
Something that is worth grabbing either for fun, or for a band/music project (It’s given me ideas that’s for sure!) is a customised Game Boy from Thretris.

I’m verrrrry tempted! This is designed to use the Game Boy for audio sequencing, and that blue (backlit) screen looks amazing! Just as amazing as this T-Shirt:

Like we care about the non-gamers anyway, right folks? ;) Finally moving onto something quite creepy.. quite QUITE creepy… THIS artist by the name of Jimiyo has made some creepy, yet amazing artwork to pay homage to Link as well as Mario;

Bravo! See you folks tomorrow!

Hope everybody’s been having a good weekend so far! Etsy.com once again has another great item for sale, this time being a Pac-Man Scarf:

I was told that I should get this as a tattoo, I’m not too sure personally, like for myself. But yeah that is one badass Tetris tattoo!

What is also pretty badass is the latest review submitted by our resident writer Paul, this time covering Super Mario Land 2 for the Game Boy.

Have a great evening, we’ll see you all tomorrow!

We got a lot to cover today, so lets get to it! Joystiq.com has gotten hold of a screenshot and a leaked video of Sonic 4:
I can’t wait for this, and yeah most likely will get this for the 360 on XBLA! As we talk about a retro-feeling title for a new-gen console, we better mention a new game on an old-gen console as spotted on Kotaku (Thanks Facebook fan Nik Newland), called Battle Kid: Fortress of Peril, by Sivak Games for the NES and here’s a video of the trailer:
Looks like a lot of fun, fresh looking retro platformer for sure, speaking of platformers, the artist Frenden made a great illustration/poster of Earthworm Jim and Psycrow. Check it out:

Very funky, kind of like this custom-made Game Boy made for Chiptune band Anamanaguchi, designed by Thretris.

Be sure to check out Anamanaguchi’s work as well HERE. Whilst on the topic of music, Facebook fan Adrian Ilsey has spotted this on Screwattack, a music video singing about Neo Geo arcade machines!
Thanks for that! :D Also my good friend Rachel Carger has spotted these cute Mushroom keychains on Dealextreme.
Props to everyone who have stumbled across these items, see you folks tomorrow!

Hi folks, it’s been a while since we posted something, so we’re going to try a new formula. Every evening, usually around news time on the television, we will post to you top findings for the day in one article instead of bombarding folks on Twitter and Facebook with numerous posts. So here we go:
Spotted this on the web, American rapper Pharrell Williams showing off his videogame-themed bling bling!

Source: thelifefiles.com
Yes please! Speaking about rapping, Collegehumor has a great video inspired from the GameBoy classic Super Mario Land.
Still stuck in my head.. Speaking of things which are hard to get out of one’s mind, are 25 of the worst video-game stock photos collated by GameSpy AU. You know what stock photos are right?

Source: GameSpyAU
Now, like every other internet (ab)user like myself. I’m a sucker for funny videos from YouTube, extra points for manic on top of funny, and even more bonus points for retrogame-themed, on top of manic, on top.. well you get the idea. Is Mega Man (or Rock Man) powerful enough to defeat every boss in the one room? Find out from this video here:
What’s hard to find is decent wallpaper on the web, especially really slick ones dedicated to retrogaming. Well look no further, here we have DeviantArt artist Orioto with a breathtaking homage to R-Type:

Source: Orioto’s Deviant Art page
Maybe the internet knows that valentines day is around the corner, and it knows how to trick a guy like me into falling for someone.. One way could be with this poem on a T-Shirt perhaps?

Source: Shirt.Woot
Whilst on the gag-reactionary topic of love, and wanting love, the internet has also informed me also that Lady Gaga is single and looking for a boyfriend! Well..

Source: Skullswap
So that is it for today’s daily findings. Hope you enjoy this new formula, if not, please let us know!

The question was:
How many black strips are there on the ribbon connecting the two screens on a Donkey Kong Game & Watch?
The first person to answer the question on the Facebook fanpage wins!
NOTE: this competition is open only to residents of planet Earth!
SECOND NOTE: If at any time the amount of fans drop under 300 during the competition, the question and answer will be invalid, and a new question will be created until we have a winner during the 300 fan period :P

Thank you to ALL the awesome supporters of Australia’s own retrogaming online community! I have thought up a question, and will anounce in 20 minutes, so 10:00PM/22:00 CDT (Central Daylight Time).

Competition time! To celebrate 300 fans enjoying the hard work we’ve been doing on Retrospekt for the past six months, we’ll be giving away one of these in working condition, with Super Mario Land.
I will ask one simple question on the Facebook fanpage.
To enter: simply join the Facebook Fanpage, and get the question correct. The question will be up as soon as I see 300 fans on the page.
NOTE: this competition is open only to residents of planet Earth!
SECOND NOTE: If at any time the amount of fans drop under 300 during the competition, the question and answer will be invalid, and a new question will be created until we have a winner during the 300 fan period :P

Who would have thunk it? I need to really get a copy of it again. I miss it on the Super GameBoy :|

Crikey.. here’s some more clothes I’ve come across for the ladies!
And then there’s this one!
Link

Made by Michael Sison I think it will be perfect to cover up the back panel’s scratches on my iPhone :P Go get it here.
Link
As mentioned on their website; it is a huge model of a GameBoy but fully functional, with cartridges to insert in, which do work!

What Chiptunes or general games music are you listening to? Talk to us about what you like, dislike and have been listening to over and over lately?
I myself have been listening to a lot of work from the 8bitpeoples collective lately.
