We hope you folks are having a great weekend so far. Onto today’s posts:
As most of you who are retro-gamers, would know that the new Angry Video Game Nerd is out, this time covering the Pong consoles. Fascinating stuff, I need to find a solid pong-playing device one day…

This is adorable, somebody made a Mario Amigurumi doll. For those who don’t know, Amigurumi is the Japanese art of knitting dolls.

Although this monstrosity (besides the Mega Drive) has a lot to explain. Not so much needs explanation on what’s happening here:

Don’t be surprised if I get that kind of shelf at my place! But you won’t catch me ever wearing this though, that’ll be for the wife! :)

Have a great rest of the weekend (and if you live in South Australia, then have a great long weekend!) Tune in tomorrow evening for more Retrospekt!

Site news, lets see.. well, we’re nearing 400 fans on Facebook, and the forums are back up and running again, and I’ll be starting to play and review Interstate 76 thanks to the wonderful folks at Good Ol’ Games! Okay onto today’s items:
My workmate has found this for me, which is from the Flickr user Gege_Crochet which is a Mario blanket.

Okay this has to take the cake of the most epic and most colourful bedspread I’ve ever seen. What also is quite a colourful game, was the original Rayman, I mention this game because of a mention of it on Toucharcade.com stating that it is heading for the iPhone/iPod Touch platform! Gameloft have also released a trailer on YouTube to share:
I tell you what folks, It’s great in this day and age to be involved in the games industry, especially the money that companies are raking in, even more so than the film industry. Some have thought, “well gee, lets combine both!” Sadly many have failed (The Street Fighter 2 live action film, need I say more?)

Well, LA Times have an article about how Missile Command might be turned into a potential movie franchise.. I don’t know.. I guess time will tell, right? Maybe I should do a competition on the forums regarding people’s favourite film based on a video game, and perhaps the winner will get 2 tickets to go see this if it comes out? IF I go, I’ll have to smuggle booze in to the cinemas, probably with this bag:

Finally to end today’s post, I’d just like to add this hilarious mashup of music from Kirby and Snoop Dog (originally from YTMND). Till tomorrow folks, keep playing those retro-games :)

20 Mega Drive games
16 Original motion controlled games
And 14 New titles built in. All for £50 (so around AUD $150 give or take).
It’s just refreshing to see a somewhat-new SEGA console coming out in this millenium :P

I’m glad that more apps like these are finally coming out, like the Commodore 64 Emulator App we reviewed late last year, this concept will be similar. Pretty much being a Mega Drive/Genesis emulator, you can then purchase games within the app to play. It will come with Space Harrier 2, but at release date of the app, there should be the following available:
- Ecco the Dolphin
- Golden Axe
- Shining Force
- Sonic the Hedgehog
Here’s hoping they’ll allow Sega Master System emulation too.. You get it SEGA?
Watch the iTunes app store for the next few days or a week give or take.

Television shows based on video games were just starting to make their mark in the early 90s. Britain had Games Master Live which was quite popular. This was aided by the fact that Games Master was also a magazine released by Future Publishing, which is what the show was based on. Future Publishing had some of the best video game magazines around in the 90s & naturally cross promotion took place across all of Future’s publications including: Game Master, Total, Super Play, Amstrad Action, Commodore Format, Amiga Format etc etc…

So we’ve seen the PacMan one and the Famicom (Japanese NES) controller as well. Banpresto has once again shocked and awed us with this card case. I say KEEP ‘EM GOING!

This is Duke Nukem 3D ported to the SEGA Mega Drive (or Genesis as it’s called in America), done by TecToy.

This is a great summary of gaming history in one timeline. From the Magnavox Odyssey pretty much to the current-gen consoles.. Funnily enough the iPhone and Sega Master System 2 weren’t mentioned.. I guess there would be plenty more not mentioned which have made major impacts in gaming one way or another.

I remember playing this on the Sega Master System 2, the 8bit versions of Michael Jackson’s classics, like Smooth Criminal in level 1.. I never got to play the Mega Drive version of it, nor the arcade one. Either way, it should be interesting to see what kind of reception this game will get, especially after Michael’s death.
