Alrighty.. We’ve been busy (this week especially). I hope you folks enjoyed reading our report on the ‘Bent But Not Broken’ Workshop on Chiptunes and Circuit Bending, which was in junction with the Format music festival in Adelaide:

as well as the report on the Sharp SF-1 Super Famicom/TV hybrid!

So Gamesradar has a great article with well-done pictures of what would happen if video games invaded famous paintings…

Very well done :) Collegehumor has a great video about the Lament of infamous video game bosses.. I must say this is the funniest thing i’ve seen this week! Hope you enjoy it as well:
I just remembered that I’m getting a car very soon, which makes me wish that more car parks had signs like this:

Finally seeing quite a dark and morbid side of Pac-Man I think, from Flickr user giantrobotmag.. Cheers for the find Mark :P

Have a great weekend folks!

Alrighty, I’m a keeping this one short, as I’ve got to head off to this event in the city of Adelaide tonight. Which is a workshop for circuit bending portable consoles/toys. Hosted by local Chiptune artist Little-Scale. I’ll try to post up pictures through the evening as well :)

Street Fighter IV is finally out for the iPhone. Looking forward to trying that one out, might need a 3GS however.
To those of you who were lucky to go through the right era of PC-gaming (1994-2000), chances are you would have had Windows 3.X at some point.. Do you folks remember this game?

Well this website is dedicated to this free classic title. There’s talks on there about them making an iPhone version as well. Brilliant!

There’s quite a depressing article on Wiipotato.com, talking about the decline of the Donkey Kong franchise. Covering a lot about about it’s more successful eras (the beginning, and Donkey Kong Country naturally).
I haven’t had the privilege to play any of the recent Donkey Kong titles, but I figured once Rare has stopped any involvement with the series, that the games would turn into tripe. I’ve been told that was the case (not my opinion).
Finally I leave you folks with a hilarious Pac-Man chase from none other than France’s favourite guerilla prankster/ex Pro Soccer player, Remi Gaillard:
Alrighty, I’ll hopefully get some decent shots from tonight’s workshop and DJ set as well. Should be an interesting evening!

Okay lets get to it! Do you folks like electronic music? I guess if you’re in Adelaide, half of the population is most likely at the Future Music festival today.. well for those who aint!? Here’s a treat for you, granted I almost forgot that it’s a Monday today :D
To anyone who has had the privelege to play Axelay on the Super NES/Super Famicom would recall that not only that it was a Konami title, was also the fact that the music, and like many other titles at the time (including Super Castlevania IV) had excellent soundtracks. Well you can thank Taro Kudou. In particular the level music in this YouTube video is the tune of the week!
Now here’s a funky looking website. www.retroconsolepics.com is a collection of high quality photos of consoles/computers from the older days, which then you can order as a poster or framed pictures!
Finally we finish with a webcomic called Brawl in the Family. which centers around Kirby and other Smash Bros. Brawl characters. Granted most of the characters are from the olden days so this still applies ;)
Some of the comics aren’t related to the characters in SBB, like this one here:
So that’s it for the Monday, tune in tomorrow! :)

We hope you folks are having a great weekend so far. Onto today’s posts:
As most of you who are retro-gamers, would know that the new Angry Video Game Nerd is out, this time covering the Pong consoles. Fascinating stuff, I need to find a solid pong-playing device one day…

This is adorable, somebody made a Mario Amigurumi doll. For those who don’t know, Amigurumi is the Japanese art of knitting dolls.

Although this monstrosity (besides the Mega Drive) has a lot to explain. Not so much needs explanation on what’s happening here:

Don’t be surprised if I get that kind of shelf at my place! But you won’t catch me ever wearing this though, that’ll be for the wife! :)

Have a great rest of the weekend (and if you live in South Australia, then have a great long weekend!) Tune in tomorrow evening for more Retrospekt!

Sunday afternoons, aren’t they lovely? Hope you folks aren’t too slack to read the weekend edition ;)
If you feel like a bit of a god when it comes to gaming, why not get yourself this shirt?

Brilliant, just as brilliant as this retro-themed Pong clock.
You can buy kits from their store as well. So half-way through my upcoming review which I was working on today, I was thinking about the Hexen series, and recalled them being a lot of fun! Luckily a decent port of Hexen II is coming to the iPhone, including a hands-on video from Toucharcade;
But there will be somewhat a delay till this comes out once agreements are made on the Quake engine source code (as it isn’t open source yet). But what is out, is this craze going around the web lately of Epic Beard Man, there’s been comical alternations of the infamous footage floating around like the Punch Out homage which is my personal favourite:
And there’s of course the Mortal Kombat one

It’s finally here! Both at AU$12. The classics have been re-done for the iPhone platform! Here’s some screenshots:

HAH! See how you like it! From Flickr user Seven_Hundred. So okay it’s that fortnightly Thursday, and that means I go to a store to buy one old game, I managed to get this untimely classic for the Super NES:

Bloody hard game, but a lot of fun nevertheless! Okay onto today’s posts: Another great Tumblr blogsite, this time from UK artist Forx. Covering a lot of great and geeky retro stuff as well as showcasing his own artwork. Bravo Tom :)
The adorable Rinry has posted a comparison of Adventure Island on the NES and Wonderboy on the SEGA Master System, as in they’re bloody identical! See for yourself:
Yeeaaaaaah :\ Another facet that has caused a bit of an argument, as I have heard in the past, is whether Mario hits the blocks with his head or his fist. Well this picture should clarify it for those who still think with their heads:

Okay now this is pretty awesome, from San Francisco, D-structure have for sale a jacket with back design resembling those pesky invaders:

Finally we all know how the SNES was a gorgeous console, and many can think of a few games off the top of their heads.. well how about 100? Here’s a video covering 100 titles in 10 minutes. Enjoy, and I’ll see you all tomorrow!

Okay, you probably notice that the forum is down at the moment, we’re working on getting that back up and running again. Apologies for any inconveniences caused!
So I came across this top 10 list right over on vgchartz, about all the other careers that Mario undertook through his entire time in games. I giggled a lot over the pictures more than anything:

That is meant to be that Mario was a dinosaur herder. I loved playing with my Dino Riders toys lonnnnnng time ago. I wish I had the T-Rex, okay I’m going off course here, might also be because of this picture that I came across on Tumblr today:
(WARNING: the following image may be unsafe for work, you’ve been warned)

Now that I posted that, I’ll post THIS:

Awesome piece of art I must say! Kind of like all the winners on Kotaku’s site, where they had a competition on how they can incorporate those love heart lollies with words on them:

Finally, being a Monday, we have for you the music of the week, coming from Brazil is the Heavy Metal sensation MegaDriver! They re-create tunes from classic video games into a brutish kind of sound. Here is a video of them playing at an anime convention in their home country
I hope there’s going to be bands at AVcon, I’ve never been, but I plan to go this year :) Well, we (as in all of retrospekt) are going to go!
